En Bretagne, les bateaux ont une âme. Au terme de leur vie, ils ne sont
pas détruits: ils sont conduits au fond d’une ria, dans un
endroit souvent retiré et généralement vaseux, où ils se décomposeront
lentement au fil des ans. Il existe ainsi plusieurs lieux, connus de peu de gens, qui sont de véritables
cimetières maritimes, pleins de mélancolie et qui incitent au rêve et
au voyage: un patrimoine menacé par la modernité.

In Brittany, the ships have a soul. At the end of their lives, they are
piloted up one estuary
or another, often in isolated places, generally sludgy, where they will
be allowed to decay slowly over the years. There are several of such
places which are true maritime cemeteries, full of melancholy and
inciting to dreams and voyages : an heritage threatened by modern times.
